Dangerous Bonds is the fifth episode of the first season of FOX television series, Empire, and the fifth episode overall. It is due to air on February 4, 2015.
Cookie receives an anonymous gift from an admirer that she believes might be a veiled threat from a person from her prison past. Meanwhile, Lucious takes charge of Hakeem's first video shoot.
Plot
Hakeem Lyon and Tiana Brown are seen on the red carpet after their duet for the Teen Choice Awards. They are both interviewed with the paparazzi snapping photos of them, and Hakeem mentions his music video release. Following their television interview, they are next seen kissing in the back seat of the car before Hakeem notices a guy taking a photo of him, asking him for some privacy. He then tells Tiana thank you for having his back before dropping her off home, where she meets with her roommate and shares a few kisses with her.
Lucious surprises Anika with a piano performance and a dance before he promises her that he will fight against the ALS disease. He proposes to her, and she says, "yes" before putting the ring on and giving him a kiss. Lucious wants Anika to take the ring off and put it in the box so the rest of his family will have an easy time to get use to the new adjustments. Anika agrees before they playfully tease each other.
In hopes to get a song recorded, Jamal and Cookie head to the studio of a producer Jamal found. Cookie shows concern for Jamal's safety, for the studio doesn't appear safe (e.g. bullet holes in the door of the producer's studio). Cookie tells Jamal to not pay him until he has everything he needs before she exits the studio. Once she's outside, she is being followed. Cookie feels uncomfortable about the court case, but she is assured that her secret will be safe.
Hakeem, Lucious, Anika, and Andre listen to Hakeem's song, Drip Drop for any feedback. Hakeem feels ready to recreate himself, for he tells his father that he really believes in himself, which Lucious is really proud of.
